The challenge in designing this exhibition pavilion on a floor space of 10m X 10m was to use one of the company products “tip-wood” as the major component for the structure & furniture.

We used pyramidal geometry to symbolise energy, minimize surface material, facilitate ease of construction and meet the budget constraints.  Keeping in mind that it was a day time exhibition, the 3 -1/4” X 1- 1/4” hollow pultruded sections of ‘Tipwood’- jute, phenolic resin, were used in varying methods to exploit natural light as means of heightening the spatial experience.

The structural system, wall panels, openings, furniture and finishes, were all integrated employing prefabricated snap-fit technology for easy erection of the structure at site The material palette of tipwood, jute & display panels was ingeniously used to create a holistic experience of space, material, light, products and processes.

During the next Expo after a gap of 3 years, we retained the pyramid structure & used back-lit acrylic sheets printed with the company’s products & processes to create a spatial experience that was equivalent but varied from the earlier pavilion.
